Tuna Bracero
Pop n Foodie
Tuna Bracero tells exaggerated fishing tales of Pete, Jim and Ray hauling enormous catches of tuna home from the sea.
Lyrics
Old Pete said that line feels light
Probably just a guppy bite
Then the ocean split in spray
Tuna big as a whale that day
He dug his boots and held that rope
Bent that rod like a lassoed hope
Three long hours he held on tight
Till that silver beast saw daylight
Crew just stared when it hit the deck
Near broke every rail and check
Pete just laughed through the salty foam
Boys, that one'll feed us all back home
Ride the rope
Tuna Bracero
Hold that line
Tuna Bracero
Fight the tide
Tuna Bracero
Bring it home
Tuna Bracero
From the sea
Tuna Bracero
To our plates
Tuna Bracero
Thank your tuna bracero
Big Jim hooked one at break of day
Thought that fish would pull away
That tuna ran like thunder rolled
Dragging Jim through waves and cold
Miles went by in a roaring chase
Salt and spray in his weathered face
Hundred miles that fish did roam
Jim rode hard till he brought it home
When it flopped on the battered deck
Crew all hollered, what the heck
Jim just grinned through the ocean roar
Boys, that fish tried to tow us to shore
Ride the rope
Tuna Bracero
Hold that line
Tuna Bracero
Fight the tide
Tuna Bracero
Bring it home
Tuna Bracero
From the sea
Tuna Bracero
To our plates
Tuna Bracero
Thank your tuna bracero
Dockside bet from a loud young man
Saw no tuna where you ran
Old Ray laughed and cast his line
Said, son, just give me a little time
One came up then two then ten
Silver flashes again and again
Deck piled high in a shining mound
More tuna than the nets could bound
Called a second boat to the bay
Still they hauled that silver away
Ray just tipped his hat real slow
Guess them tuna liked my show
Salt and sun and the endless blue
Hard men doing what they do
Ride the tide where the wild things roam
Bring the ocean harvest home
Ride the rope
Tuna Bracero
Hold that line
Tuna Bracero
Fight the tide
Tuna Bracero
Bring it home
Tuna Bracero
From the sea
Tuna Bracero
To our plates
Tuna Bracero
Thank your tuna bracero
Ride the rope
Tuna Bracero
Hold that line
Tuna Bracero
Fight the tide
Tuna Bracero
Bring it home
Tuna Bracero
From the sea
Tuna Bracero
To our plates
Tuna Bracero
Thank your tuna bracero
