Temple to Eloté
Pop n Foodie
Temple to Eloté describes a ritual built around corn, chili, lime, cheese and crema, culminating in fire and calls for rebirth.
Lyrics
Fields at dusk
Blades of gold
Cut the stalks
Grip and hold
Chili ground
Powder red
Limes in baskets
Freshly bled
Cheese in cloth
Salt in jars
Crema sealed
Under stars
Cilantro
Pulled from earth
We prepare
Your rebirth
Hands in dust
Breath in heat
Circle forms
At our feet
Temple to Eloté
Temple to Eloté
Rise, rise, rise
Temple to Eloté
Temple to Eloté
Open wide
Temple to Eloté
Temple to Eloté
Hear our cry
Temple to Eloté
Drums begin
Low and slow
Carry corn
In a row
Up the steps
Stone and steep
Golden tower
We must keep
Powder smoke
Marks the air
Lime is crushed
In ritual prayer
Cheese like snow
Falls in lines
Crema traced
In sacred signs
Hands in dust
Breath in heat
Circle forms
At our feet
Temple to Eloté
Temple to Eloté
Rise, rise, rise
Temple to Eloté
Temple to Eloté
Open wide
Temple to Eloté
Temple to Eloté
Hear our cry
Temple to Eloté
Fire lit
Torch to grain
Flames reflect
In our veins
Chili sparks
Red and bright
Corn ignites
In the night
Lime is thrown
Into flame
Salt and smoke
Speak your name
Ash ascends
Heat and light
Temple fed
By the rite
Burn
Burn
Turn
Smoke
Choke
Spice
Rise
Corn
Reborn
Reborn
Burn
Turn
Smoke
Choke
Spice
Rise
Corn
Reborn
Reborn
In corn
Temple to Eloté
Temple to Eloté
Rise, rise, rise
Temple to Eloté
Temple to Eloté
Open wide

Temple to Eloté
Hear our cry
Temple to Eloté
