Chili Dog in My Car
Pop n Foodie
Chili Dog in My Car follows a narrator enjoying a chili dog, fries and the radio in their car after work on Friday.
Lyrics
Friday finally came around
Clock hit five, I'm homeward bound
Payday smile, cash in my hand
Got one stop before my plans
Corner stand, familiar light
Been dreamin' 'bout this every night
Windows down, radio low
Nowhere else I wanna go
No hurry now
The world's not far
Everything I need's right where we are
Chili dog in my car
Underneath the evening stars
Windows down, favorite song
This is where I belong
Chili dog in my car
Don't know where tomorrow starts
Just this bite, just this night
Nothing could be more right
I love this chili dog in my car
Mustard bright, onions sweet
Warm chili falling on the meat
Napkins stacked across the seat
Best little Friday kind of treat
Streetlights glow on shiny paint
Nothing here that I would change
Traffic rolling slowly by
Golden sunset in the sky
No phone calls
No racing heart
Just a little peace before I start
Chili dog in my car
Underneath the evening stars
Windows down, favorite song
This is where I belong
Chili dog in my car
Don't know where tomorrow starts
Just this bite, just this night
Nothing could be more right
I love this chili dog in my car
Whole long week kept passing by
Counting down each nine to five
Now the first bite says it all
Simple moments kind and small
Last few fries, one final sip
Chili on my fingertips
Engine starts, but not just yet
I ain't finished smiling yet
Radio play
Sun sinks low
Golden light
Dashboard glow
Five more minutes
That's enough
Some days end
Just like love
Hold this feeling
Don't let go
Friday hearts
Move so slow
Chili dog in my car
Underneath the evening stars
Windows down, favorite song
This is where I belong
Chili dog in my car
Don't know where tomorrow starts
Just this bite, just this night
Nothing could be more right
I love this chili dog in my car
Cup is empty
Wrapper's gone
Still I'm humming
With the song
Sun goes down
Moon shines far
Best paycheck
Was this little car
Monday's coming
That's alright
I'll remember
Friday night
Next week's waiting
Near or far
Dreaming of
My chili dog in my car
